Make first aid part of every West Australian’s life by taking up a first aid volunteering position with St John WA.
Every year our First Aid Awareness Officers connect St John WA with thousands of people through free and fun first aid learning opportunities. This is a great opportunity to contribute towards making first aid a part of everyone’s life and building resilient communities on a personal basis.
Taking the step to volunteer with our Youth and Community team opens up an array of opportunities for different experiences and interactions with St John and your community. As a volunteer with us, you will attend a wide variety of community events and perform an essential role in building resilience amongst the community by demonstrating a range of first aid skills. As a volunteer, you are given the training, support and confidence to feel ready in your role to help build a stronger community.

Step 2 - Volunteer Sourcing will call to book you into an interview.
Step 3 - Attend your interview with any outstanding documentation requested.
Step 4 - Application process completed. If your application is successful, you will be offered a volunteer position with Youth and Community Engagement and will be contacted for next steps.
Being a First Aid Awareness Officer will develop your communication skills and build confidence by allowing you to engage with a wide variety to people. Being part of a large volunteer team will help you connect with other likeminded volunteers in the Perth area.
Meaningful volunteering events are located across the metro area. Divisional meetings are held at St John WA Central Hub in Belmont.

To become a volunteer with St John Ambulance Western Australia, you will be asked to complete an online application, including a medical questionnaire and the following:
All our volunteers are provided with the necessary training to enable them to carry out their role.
To continue to operate in your role, you must maintain the competencies required and an appropriate level of fitness as roles are physically demanding.
All information concerning our volunteers is treated as strictly confidential at all times.
Your volunteering for St John Ambulance should not cost you anything.
We will reimburse all legitimate out of pocket expenses incurred during your time volunteering with us.
You should talk to your supervisor to confirm what expenses you can claim.
