Why become a Volunteer Logistics Officer?
Our Volunteer Logistics Officers at St John WA are responsible for a wide variety of duties. These duties are integral to the efficient delivery of various services across our major events in WA and the role works hand in hand with our Event Health Services team.
Is this you?
- Are you over the age of 18 and able to work in a professional organisation?
- Are you friendly with a strong desire to help others?
- Can you easily work solo or as part of a team?
- Do you hold a C class unencumbered driver's license?
- Are you able to perform physical duties such as lifting boxes (maximum of 10 kgs)?
- Have time to volunteer with an expectation of at least 5 hours per month
Skills required:
- Positive and friendly attitude.
- Great communication and presentation skills.
- Initiative, enthusiasm and a flexible approach to tasks.
- Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team.

Step 3 - Attend your interview with any outstanding documentation requested
Step 4 - If your application is successful, you will be offered a volunteer position with Event Health Services and will be contacted for next steps.
- This application will take about 20 minutes to complete. If you cannot complete the application right now, you can click 'Save Progress' to save your work and come back at any time within the next 14 days.
- You will need to upload a copy of your driver’s license so have a digital copy ready (you can take a photo of it with your smartphone).
- You will also need an up-to-date National Police Clearance. There’s a link on the application form to organise this—remember you can save your application form at any stage and come back to it.
- We also require you to complete a medical questionnaire as part of the application. All these steps are there to ensure your safety and the safety of the people you’re helping. Thank you for sticking with it and helping us support our community.
What your role involves
- To assist with vehicle movements between depots, vehicle maintenance and stocking to ensure vehicle’s operational readiness at all times.
- To assist with the bump in and bump out at major events, including set up of marquees, set up of clinical areas and transportation of members.
- To assist with general logistics to ensure that Event Health Services is operationally ready at all times.
- To assist with general member welfare and support during major events.
- Promote the vision, mission and values of St John Event Health Services.
- Support the state management team and operational teams to ensure the objectives of the organisation are met.
- Ensure all communication is respectful and encouraging.
- Respect St John values
- Weekend shifts subject to availability.
Skills you will develop
Being a Logistics Officer within the St John Event Health Services team will give you the opportunity to improve your vehicle movement and maintenance skills, give you exposure to event logistics and improve your ability to work autonomously as well as part of a larger team.
You will also form part of the Event Health Services team at thousands of public events annually, and you will be part of a team that really makes a difference in people’s lives.
The Onboarding Process
- Complete the St John WA Volunteer Online Induction (approximately 4 hours)
- Attend Welcome Induction (approximately 2 hours)
- Complete Provide First Aid course (1-day course provided by St John) or submit evidence of current certification (must be less than 12 months since date of issue)
- Complete 5 probationary shifts

- All our volunteers are provided with the necessary training to enable them to carry out their role. To continue to operate in your role, you must maintain the competencies required and an appropriate level of fitness as roles are physically demanding.

To become a volunteer with St John Ambulance Western Australia, you will be asked to complete an online application, including a medical questionnaire and the following:
- National Police Clearance (Valid within the past 6 months)
- Current Photo ID (Driver’s Licence, Passport or WA Photo/Proof of Age Card)
- Working with Children Check
All our volunteers are provided with the necessary training to enable them to carry out their role.
To continue to operate in your role, you must maintain the competencies required and an appropriate level of fitness as roles are physically demanding.
All information concerning our volunteers is treated as strictly confidential at all times.
Your volunteering for St John Ambulance should not cost you anything.
We will reimburse all legitimate out of pocket expenses incurred during your time volunteering with us.
You should talk to your supervisor to confirm what expenses you can claim.
