About the Role:
Our Critical Care Paramedics bring advanced clinical expertise to patients with complex and time-critical needs. We are seeking a Critical Care Paramedic Manager to lead the people, operations and service development that support this vital work. Joining our Clinical and Operational Excellence team, you will lead our Critical Care Paramedics, Critical Care Interns and administrative staff, creating an environment where people can develop, perform at their best and deliver exceptional patient care.

You will report to the Senior Manager Specialist Operations and work closely with St John WA’s Medical Director, bringing operational leadership and specialist medical expertise together to strengthen clinical governance, support the two-year Critical Care internship program and guide the service’s continued development. This is an opportunity to help shape the future of critical care delivery across WA, building on the service’s expansion from rotary-wing operations to an on-road capability. You will balance the demands of day-to-day service delivery with the longer-term development of a capable, connected and sustainable team.

What You’ll Do:

• Lead and develop the team. Support, mentor and challenge our Critical Care Paramedics, interns and administrative staff, building clear development pathways and a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.
• Partner with the Medical Director. Work closely on clinical priorities, governance, education and service improvement, translating these priorities into practical operational outcomes.
• Strengthen clinical governance. Lead CCP-related internal governance activities and maintain effective structures for compliance, quality assurance and improvement.
• Guide service development. Turn organisational objectives into achievable plans, monitor performance and lead projects that improve critical care delivery.
• Build strong partnerships. Develop productive relationships with DFES, WACHS, the Department of Health, metropolitan and country hospitals, and other partner agencies to support coordinated patient care.
• Manage resources effectively. Oversee operational administration and budgets, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency while supporting safe, reliable service delivery.

What You’ll Bring:

You will be a thoughtful, decisive leader who understands the demands of high-acuity healthcare and knows how to support the people delivering it. You will be comfortable working across clinical and operational priorities, building relationships and guiding a specialist team through change.

You will also bring:

• Tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent experience in senior healthcare or critical care roles. Experience in aeromedical services and/or high-acuity care will be highly regarded.
• Strong leadership skills, with experience supervising, mentoring and developing staff.
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to balance competing priorities while meeting service, administrative and contractual requirements.
• The ability to communicate clearly and build effective relationships with colleagues and partners across a diverse range of roles and backgrounds.
• Sound judgement and a structured approach to investigating issues, solving problems and evaluating proposed initiatives.
• Experience delivering projects and leading change.
