St John WA is currently seeking a Human Resources Officer based in our Belmont office on a permanent full-time basis working 8.30am – 4.30pm Monday through to Friday. Reporting to the People Services Business Partner, you will provide advice and assistance to St John WA management and employees, through the application of administrative process and the provision of general advice to managers, employees and volunteers, interpreted from industrial instruments, policy and procedure. This role is ideal for someone who is currently studying, or is a recent graduate, and has a passion for human resources and enjoys working with a variety of stakeholders in a collaborative and fast-paced team.

What you’ll do:

  • Act as the first point of contact for the People Services team.
  • Provide administration support to the Head of People Services and team as and when required.
  • Create and issue employee correspondence, including changes to employment conditions, contracts, statements of service, resignation acknowledgements, and probation confirmations.
  • Maintain records and ensure the standard of documentation and associated processes are accessible in appropriate formats.
  • Support the advisory service to line management and employees in relation to a range of people matters, including interpretation of relevant employee agreements/awards, policies, procedures and legislation and employment contracts.
  • Work with various stakeholders to promote consistent application of the organisation’s standards and expectations to ensure fair and equitable treatment through the application of policies and procedures.
  • Support process and policy development, compliance and improvement, and People matters under the direction of the People Services Business Partner.

What you’ll need:

  • Possess a willingness to learn with a can-do attitude
  • Ability to build relationships and communicate at all levels across a diverse demographic of stakeholders that ensures successful outcomes.
  • Understanding of employment contracts, awards/agreements, and applicable human resources/industrial relations legislation.
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to identify continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high volume environment
  • Completion of or working towards a tertiary qualification in human resources management or other relevant fields (desirable).
