We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Registered Midwife to support our mission of delivering safe, high-quality maternity care in a dynamic and collaborative environment. Your expertise will ensure optimal outcomes for mothers, babies, and healthcare professionals across the state in an On-Call, over the phone capacity. 

What You’ll Do:

In this pivotal role, you will support St John staff and patients through expert advice, timely communication, and operational coordination over the phone (in an On Call capacity, no in person presence required). Your work will directly impact the safety and efficiency of maternity care delivery by supporting our on road operational teams with expert advice and support following internal CPG’s.

You Will:

  • Provide accurate and timely responses to phone calls and emails, supporting frontline staff.
  • Deliver advice aligned with SJAWA Clinical Practical Guidelines.
  • Document every STORC (St John Obstetric Resource Centre) interaction and report to Senior Manager
  • Guide on-road staff on appropriate hospital destinations for maternity patients.
  • Coordinate with State Control Centre, hospitals, clinicians, interagency midwives, and patient families to ensure safe transfers and care continuity.
  • Maintain and promote a safe work environment, reporting any incidents or hazards.
  • Contribute to strategic initiatives, continuous improvement, and uphold St John’s vision and values.
  • Support administrative processes and ensure documentation is maintained to the highest standards.
  • Participate in weekly review meetings

Required:

  • Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Registered Midwife.
  • Extensive experience across antenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum care.
  • Competency in newborn care, including newborn resuscitation.
  • Strong understanding of SJAWA Clinical Practical Guidelines related to maternity care.
  • Excellent knowledge of pre-hospital equipment and medications.
  • Familiarity with maternity units across WA and their neonatal capabilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks, self-manage, and deliver with attention to detail.

Desirable:

  • Experience within the Australian emergency services or healthcare industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and build positive relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Conflict resolution and negotiation skills within clinical frameworks.
  • Insight into scopes of practice across different on-road healthcare roles.
  • Working in an On Call environment.
