About the Role:

We are looking for a Community Transport Driver to join our Patient and Community Transport Services department on a Casual basis. Community Transport Drivers will respond to pre-booked non-emergency transport calls for patients and passengers who are clinically stable. Patients may be transported for a variety of reasons including leaving hospital to return home, transportation to an aged care facility or to a lower acuity hospital such as a rehabilitation unit or transfer to a medical facility or clinic for a pre-booked appointment.

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide excellent customer service to all patients and family members utilising the Community Transport Service.
  • Ensure that patients are transported to appointments within established timeframes.
  • Carry out any other driving duties (passenger or non-passenger) within the allocated shift pattern.
  • Transport patients to and from given locations, assisting with mobility if necessary
  • Undertake Community Transport transfers within the specified timeframes
  • Transfer equipment items when required e.g. wheelchair, bags etc
  • Following transfer routes to ensure transfers are completed in given timeframes
  • Prepare the vehicle and ensure that is clean (externally and internally), fuelled, and that the seating 
    configuration is fit for purpose for the relevant transfer

What You’ll Need:

  • C Class drivers’ license
  • Current National Police Clearance
  • Current provide first aid certificate including CPR
  • Comprehensive geographic knowledge of the metropolitan area and surrounds.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  •  Basic Computer skills
  • Demonstrated time management skills, basic computer skills
  • Previous experience as a community transport driver (volunteer) desirable.
  • Previous experience working with people of all backgrounds including people who are frail aged with limited mobility and people with disabilities
  •  The ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
