About the Role

Based in Northbridge, this full-time position places you at the heart of a dynamic and fast-paced custodial healthcare environment on a rotating roster: 2 day shifts, 2 night shifts, followed by 4 days off, allowing for valuable rest and recovery time. You will perform thorough patient assessments and escalate concerns appropriately, ensuring timely and effective care. Shifts are 12 hours in duration, running from 0600 to 1800 or 1800 to 0600, including comprehensive handovers. During peak periods, an additional nurse will be available to assist, and you will always work alongside a team member from WAPOL, ensuring safety and collaboration. This position offers a unique opportunity to apply your clinical expertise while contributing to a positive, cohesive team culture.

About You

You are a committed and highly capable Registered Nurse who brings both clinical excellence and genuine empathy to your work. You thrive in complex, fast-paced environments and are confident in your ability to communicate effectively, make sound decisions, and build trust with patients and your team.

You will:

  • Monitor patient health and well-being throughout their time in custody
  • Respond with urgency and professionalism to health concerns
  • Collaborate respectfully and effectively within a multidisciplinary team

Essential Requirements

  • Current AHPRA registration (no restrictions)
  • Minimum 5 years' nursing experience
  • Venipuncture skills 
  • At least 2 years’ experience in emergency, custodial, or acute care
  • Current National Police Clearance (issued within the last 3 months) or willingness to obtain
  • Current Provide First Aid / ALS and CPR certificate (or willingness to obtain)
  • Valid WA Driver's License
  • Current WA Working with Children (WWC).
  • Ability to pass integrity and background checks

Desirable Skills

  • Mental Health experience
  • Strong clinical reasoning and risk assessment skills
