Data Quality Improvement Specialist

As a Data Quality Improvement Specialist, you will join St John WA in a brand new, Greenfields role where you will work with SMEs throughout the business – find gaps in data quality and liaise with key stakeholders and the Business Intelligence and Improvement and Information Technology teams. You will identify potential solutions, influence benefit realisation and help implement the changes. This role has significant potential for growth and the opportunity to mould the position as required.

This is a permanent full-time position working 37.5 hours per week, based in the Belmont office, with 1 day a week working from home.

What you’ll do:

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand their challenges, needs, and concerns regarding data quality in source applications, involving subject matter experts (SMEs), as required.
  • Design, implement, and continually improve a data quality framework that assists in maximising the value of data assets and aligns with the organisation’s goals and objectives.
  • Develop and implement data quality improvement plans, including defining metrics, processes, and best practices for data collection, storage, and usage.
  • Develop comprehensive policies, guidelines, and protocols to effectively govern and manage privacy, security, and compliance within the data quality framework (that you’ll develop), ensuring alignment with legal and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with data owners, IT teams, and business units to ensure alignment on data quality goals and facilitate the sharing of data quality standards.

What you’ll need:

  • Excellent problem solving and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work both autonomously and in a team environment.
  • Proven experience in Influencing, stakeholder management and driving their outcomes
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and software (e.g. SQL, Excel, data visualisation tools).
  • Strong understanding of technology systems and their role in data quality, how system rules and use of technology can drive better data quality within the organisation.
  • Understanding and ability to implement a similar framework to DAMA-DMBOK: Data Management Body of Knowledge (DMBOK) by DAMA International, or; Data Quality Framework (DQF)
  • Bachelor’s degree in data management, computer science, information systems, or a related field
  • 3 years’ of experience required in a data quality and improvement role, with a focus on developing and implementing data quality initiatives, frameworks, policies and privacy impact assessments.
