Front End Web Developer

As a Front-End Web Developer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining the user interfaces of St John WA’s digital platforms. This role focuses on creating seamless, user-friendly web experiences that enhance customer interaction and satisfaction.

You will work closely with the UX/UI Specialist and other team members to ensure the visual and functional aspects of web applications meet organisational standards and customer expectations. 

This position is a permanent full-time role, working 37.5 hours per week, based in our recently refurbished Belmont Office, with a maximum of 2 days a week working from home available, if desired. Some flexibility in start and finish times are available to suit your personal situation.  

Working in the Customer Experience Team, you will help teams understand their customers' needs to ensure a safer and better WA, and ensure every experience is easy. The outcome of this is to deliver seamless, simple and guided experiences through understanding the needs of every individual. 

 

What you’ll do:  

  • Create and maintain front-end interfaces that enhance the customer experience across multiple platforms, ensuring cross-browser and cross-advice compatibility.
  • Manage and complete front-end development tasks within set deadlines, contributing to team efficiency and meeting organisational project goals.
  • Apply industry-standard coding practices to optimise the speed, scalability, and security of web applications that directly impact the performance and accessibility of St John WA’s digital platforms.
  • Perform frequent usability testing and performance evaluations to identify areas of improvement and ensure web applications meet user expectations and performance benchmarks.
  • Provide technical support in translating customer feedback and journey mapping into actionable web development tasks, ensuring continuous improvement of the user experience across all touchpoints.
  • Conduct regular user testing on web interfaces and provide data-driven recommendations to improve user engagement and satisfaction.
  • Ensure all web interfaces comply with relevant accessibility standards, such as WCAG, to provide inclusive user experiences for diverse customer groups.  

 

What you’ll need: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, web development, or a related field. 
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Typescript and related web development frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of responsive design principles and best practices.
  • Experience with front-end frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js.
  • Familiarity with version control systems like Git.
  • Full stack development experience (preferred)
  • Knowledge of systems, tools and process within the ambit of this position.
