About the Role:

St John WA is looking for a General Manager to join our Operational & Clinical Excellence department on a Permanent Full-time basis. Reporting into the Chief Emergency Officer, as the General Manager Operational & Clinical Excellence, you’ll be responsible for leading a diverse team covering Patient Safety & Quality, Specialist Operations, Strategy & Planning, External Partnerships, and Operational Improvements for St John WA’s ambulance and patient transport operations statewide.

This is a critical role to deliver on our aspiration to build a high-performance culture in St John WA in service of the Western Australian community.

What You’ll Do:

  • Establish and implement objectives aligned to strategic priorities, fostering a sense of purpose and drive within the Clinical & Operational Excellence department.
  • Collaborate with the St John WA Executive leadership team, and other General managers and Heads of department to drive continuous improvement in ambulance and patient transport.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders across the health & emergency services ecosystem in WA.
  • Develop a best practice framework in patient care, ensuring legislative compliance in clinical practice.
  • Oversee department leaders’ knowledge, skills, and performance, fostering a positive team environment and succession planning.
  • Develop long-term business planning capability to drive effective annual planning and to shape impactful improvement initiatives across the business. 

What You’ll Need:

  • Extensive background in leadership of clinical, emergency services, health, community or commercial based sectors.
  • Demonstrated people management and leadership experience at a senior level.
  • Proven track record in creating a high performing team.
  • Experience forging strong working partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to build the stream capability.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification aligned to this position (Paramedicine/ Pre-hospital Emergency Care); and/or demonstrated relevant experience at a senior management capacity relevant to this position.
