About the Role:

St John WA is seeking an experienced Industrial Relations Specialist to join our Industrial Relations team on a permanent full-time basis, with the opportunity for appointment at a Senior Industrial Relations Specialist level depending on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.

In this role, you will deliver strategic and specialist industrial relations advice to minimise disputes, enhance workforce relations and support organisational objectives. You will manage complex workplace matters, support leaders, lead consultation and bargaining processes, and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and industrial instruments.

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide strategic industrial and employee relations advice to leaders, managers and People Services, ensuring compliance with the Fair Work Act, Enterprise Agreements, Awards and organisational policies.
  • Manage complex industrial relations and employee relations matters, including disputes, investigations, grievances, misconduct and performance issues.
  • Lead and support enterprise agreement bargaining, employee and union consultation, and organisational change initiatives.
  • Represent St John WA in negotiations, the Fair Work Commission and other external forums where required.
  • Build leader capability by providing coaching, training and practical guidance on industrial and employee relations matters.
  • Develop proactive strategies to identify, prevent and resolve industrial relations risks while fostering positive workforce relations.
  • Manage casework and provide practical, commercially focused solutions that align with organisational objectives and legislative requirements.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and, where appointed at the Senior level, provide mentoring and guidance to team members.

What You’ll Need:

  • Relevant qualification, such as a Bachelor of Human Resources, Industrial Relations or Employment Law.
  • 4 – 5 years’ of experience required in a similar role, such as Senior Industrial Relations or Employee Relations Advisor; Industrial Relations or Employee Relations Advisor.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of industrial relations legislation, Australian employment law, industrial relations processes and dispute resolution mechanisms.
  • Experience in negotiating enterprise agreements and managing complex industrial relations matters.
  • The ability to influence, build positive relationships and provide trusted advice to management, employees and unions.
  • Strong problem-solving, organisational and analytical skills with high attention to detail.
