About the Role:

We are looking for an Instructional Designer to join our Training and Equipment department on a Part Time basis (15 hours a week). This position will create training material covering of aspect of Instructional design and storyboarding and incorporating adult learning principles and instructional design methodology into an appropriate mix of delivery media. The Instructional designer would have extensive experience in the use of programs and be proficient in the use of authoring tools and learning software such as LMS, SCORM and Articulate 360 to ensure St John WA can maintain its RTO license and to become a first-class training provider.

What You’ll Do:

  • Design and develop high‑quality learning materials using LMS, SCORM and Articulate 360, incorporating modern learning design technologies and methodologies.
  • Produce learner‑centric content tailored to individual needs, applying appropriate instructional design models (e.g., complex, rapid, emerging approaches).
  • Develop storyboards and create supporting materials — including Student Guides, Assessment Tools and Facilitator Guides — using adult learning principles.
  • Ensure all learning and assessment content aligns with the Training and Assessment Plan, Units of Competency, RTO Standards and St John WA policies.
  • Coordinate and conduct validation processes to test products before release and ensure feedback from key stakeholders is incorporated.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, marketing and branding teams to ensure learning materials meet business, operational and client requirements.
  • Maintain high standards of quality assurance, document control, and compliance, supporting RTO audits and internal/external requirements.
  • Use project management principles to plan, deliver and review design projects within set timeframes, working collaboratively with the line manager to meet business objectives.

 

What You’ll Need:

  • Proficient in the use of authoring tools and learning software such as LMS, SCORM, Articulate 360
  • TAE40116 or TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
  • Extensive experience using learning software such as LMS, SCORM, Articulate 360.
  • Strong Instructional design and storyboarding experience.
  • Demonstrated experience working within an RTO environment.
  • Incorporating adult learning principles and instructional design methodology into an appropriate mix of delivery media.
  • Ability to design, develop and deliver high quality learning material in a timely manner.
  • Participation in validation meetings seeking feedback from key stakeholders/SMEs.
