St John WA is currently seeking a Human Resources Officer to be based in our Belmont office on a permanent full-time basis working 8.30am – 4.30pm Monday through to Friday. Reporting to the People Services Business Partner, you will provide advice and assistance to St John WA management and employees, through the application of administrative process and the provision of general advice to managers, employees and volunteers, interpreted from industrial instruments, policy and procedure. This role is ideal for someone who is currently studying, or is a recent graduate, and has a passion for human resources and enjoys working with a variety of stakeholders in a collaborative and fast-paced team.

What you’ll do:

  • Support the advisory service to line management and employees in relation to a range of People matters, including interpretation of relevant employee agreements/awards, policies, procedures and legislation and contract development.
  • Provide guidance in the resolution of grievances and complaints within the organisation in relation to collective or individual matters, in accordance with policies, processes and under the direction of the People Services Business Partner.
  • Work with various stakeholders to promote consistent application of the organisation’s standards and expectations to ensure fair and equitable treatment through the application of policies and procedures.
  • Support the People Services team in the coordination of case management for employee matters to ensure compliance with applicable industrial instruments, policies, procedures and statutory provisions to support the resolution of issues.
  • Support process and policy development, compliance and improvement.
  • Conduct termination and exit interview processes.
  • Maintain human resource records and ensure the standard of documentation and associated processes are accessible in appropriate formats. 

What you’ll need:

  • Understanding of employment contracts, awards/agreements, and applicable human resources/industrial relations legislation.
  • Possess a willingness to learn with a can do attitude
  • Ability to build relationships and communicate at all levels across a diverse demographic of stakeholders that ensures successful outcomes.
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to identify continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high volume environment
  • Completion of or working towards a tertiary qualification in human resources management or other relevant fields(desirable).
