Registered Nurse – FIFO from Geraldton
St John WA is seeking experienced Registered Nurses to support the health and wellbeing of employees living and working at the SKA Observatory (SKAO). SKAO is an international science and engineering project building the world’s largest radio astronomy telescope in Western Australia.
This is an exciting opportunity to work in a unique remote environment, providing primary healthcare, occupational health and emergency response services to the SKAO village workforce.
The Opportunity
You will provide healthcare to employees residing at the village, managing a broad range of primary healthcare presentations while also supporting occupational health, health promotion and emergency response requirements.
Working autonomously, you will use your clinical assessment and decision-making skills to assess, treat and manage diverse presentations, with escalation and referral where required.
Successful applicants will FIFO from Geraldton and work 12-hour shifts on a Monday–Thursday swing roster.
About You
- Strong clinical assessment, decision-making and critical thinking skills, with the ability to work confidently and autonomously in a remote environment.
- Experience in primary healthcare, emergency nursing, occupational health, or remote nursing is highly desirable.
- Ability to assess and manage a broad range of acute and non-acute presentations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients and work effectively with a diverse workforce.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide primary healthcare services to employees residing at the SKAO village.
- Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments and provide appropriate treatment and management for a broad range of presentations.
- Maintain accurate and confidential clinical documentation in accordance with professional, legislative and organisational requirements.
- Contribute to maintaining a safe, professional and well-equipped medical facility within the SKAO village.
Essential Requirements:
- Registered Nurse with current unrestricted AHPRA registration.
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse, in emergency or remote settings.
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate.
- Current unrestricted Australian Driver's Licence.
- National Police Clearance Certificate.
- Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical and site
Desirable Requirements:
- Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification.
- Experience working in a remote or mine site environment.
- Primary healthcare or general practice nursing experience.
