The Opportunity

St John WA is seeking applications from experienced Registered Nurses with a strong medical background in Emergency Department or mine site/ remote locations to join our casual pool of personnel for FIFO roles across WA.

This is not a traditional Emergency Department role. Your Emergency Department experience will equip you to respond to onsite emergencies when they occur, however, much of your role will involve delivering occupational health services to the site workforce.

Successful Applicants will work across Rio Tinto Iron Ore sites throughout the Pilbara region on 8:6 and 7:7 rosters, working day and night shifts of up to 12.25 hours.

About You

  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills, with the ability to make sound decisions in fast-paced environments.
  • Ability to undertake and meet pre-employment medical assessment requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with diverse individuals and work both collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and autonomously.
  • An interest in occupational health nursing and the ability to adapt your clinical skills to a remote workplace setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct fitness for work medical assessments and drug and alcohol screenings, ensuring medical information is accurately documented and maintained.
  • Conduct medical surveillance and health monitoring programs in accordance with company and legislative requirements. This includes audiometric, spirometry and biological assessments.
  • Participate in health promotion activities and site-based initiatives and contribute to ongoing training and professional development.
  • Deliver high-quality nursing care, including assessments, treatment, and health education, to the workforce at Rio Tinto sites.
  • Provide emergency response, first aid services, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Participate in emergency response training, simulations and exercises where required.

Essential Requirements:

  • Registered Nurse with current unrestricted AHPRA registration.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse, in emergency orremote settings.
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate
  • Unrestricted Driver’s Licence (C) – Manual
  • National Police clearance Certificate (issued within last three months)
  • Cannulation competent
  • Drug and Alcohol Tester Certificate (HLTPAT010)

Desirable Requirements:

  • Advanced Life Support 1 Certificate
  • HESA Accredited Immunisation Certificate
  • Certificate III in Response and Rescue
