Casual Correctional Registered Nurse

About the Role

In this role, you will support the health and wellbeing of people in custody by delivering safe, high-quality care in a secure setting. You will always be supported on-site, with a custodial officer present during all patient interactions.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Provide safe, high-quality nursing care in a correctional health setting 

• Manage acute presentations and chronic disease management 

• Collaborate and liaise within a multidisciplinary healthcare team 

• Conduct thorough nursing assessments, monitoring and escalation of care for patients in custody. 

• Adhere to relevant facilities standards, policies and procedures 

About You 

You are a compassionate and resilient nurse with exceptional clinical judgment, communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic and secure environment. 

Essential: 

• AHPRA registration as an RN (no restrictions) 

• 5+ years recent nursing experience 

• Current National Police Clearance within the last 3 months 

• Valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certificate 

• WA Working with Children Check 

• Cannulation/Venepuncture competent  

• Ability to pass comprehensive background and integrity checks. 

• Effective communication skills and ability to maintain professional boundaries 

• ALS or BLS dependent on site 
• Recent experience in acute care, primary health, mental health or custodial services. 

Desirable: 

• Immunisation certification.
