Are you passionate about emergency management and training? St John WA is seeking an Emergency Management Training Facilitator (AIIMS) to play a pivotal role in preparing our teams and communities for emergency situations. This role offers the opportunity to deliver life-saving training and exercises to internal staff, volunteers, and emergency service partners across metropolitan and regional areas. You’ll be instrumental in maintaining high levels of readiness for mass casualty incidents and other emergencies, ensuring that every member of our workforce is equipped to respond effectively when it matters most.

What You’ll Do:
As an Emergency Management Training Facilitator (AIIMS), you’ll play a vital role in delivering emergency management training and exercises, ensuring a high level of preparedness for emergencies across metropolitan and regional areas. Your work will focus on facilitating training sessions for both internal and external partners, including other emergency services and health providers, to enhance their readiness for mass casualty incidents and other emergencies. This is a casual position, with flexibility options available which will be discussed in more detail at interview stage.  

You will:

  • Collaborate with the Emergency Management team to deliver AIIMS and other emergency training across regional and metropolitan areas.
  • Engage both paid staff and volunteers in interactive, scenario-based training sessions tailored for prehospital and emergency care environments.
  • Develop and coordinate new training courses and annual training plans based on identified needs.
  • Ensure training and exercises prepare all involved to handle disaster prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery activities.
  • Assist in planning and delivering training to improve SJWA's 'AmbPlan' and keep e-learning packages up to date for easy access by staff and volunteers.
  • Take part in a diverse, inclusive, and high-performance culture that aligns with St John WA’s values and strategic goals.

Required:

  • Certified AIIMS Instructor with current accreditation (mandatory).
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or equivalent) (mandatory).
  • Proven experience in delivering emergency management or healthcare-related training.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in emergency medicine, incident management, and healthcare operations.
  • Ability to travel and work flexible hours to meet regional training demands.
  • Exceptional communication, facilitation, and organisational skills.
  • WA Driving license with no more than six demerit points

Desirable:

  • MIMMS Instructor (highly desirable but not essential).
  • Emergo Train System instructor certification (highly desirable but not essential).
  • Background or qualification in emergency medicine, paramedicine, or related field.
