About the Role

St John WA is looking for Operations Support Officers to join our State Control Centre on a 22:4 roster.
In this critical role, you’ll be at the centre of our ambulance operations, receiving and making calls to ambulance crews, emergency service agencies, hospitals, and internal support teams to ensure seamless coordination and the highest standard of emergency response across Western Australia.

The State Control Centre is based in Belmont on Great Eastern Hwy and runs 24 hours a day 7 days a week. The roster consists of 2 days, 2 nights and 4 days off. This is a support role where you will be sitting within the Communication Officer teams, the successful candidates will be required to start on 10th August 2026 and must not have leave booked within the first six months due to the training requirements of the role.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with Emergency Services partners.
  • Provide timely updates to ambulance crews, hospitals, and external agencies to support accurate and efficient case management.
  • Conduct welfare checks on ambulance crews and patients when required.
  • Ensure resources are allocated appropriately and crews have the information they need prior to arrival.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date information within the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system, including warning locations, first responder details, and officer information.
  • Uphold occupational health and safety by reporting hazards and following established protocols.
  • Contribute to organisational initiatives, continuous improvement processes, and departmental goals.
  • Operate professionally and in line with the vision, mission, and values of St John WA.

What You’ll Need

  • Ability to work autonomously and make sound, timely decisions.
  • Excellent analytical skills and strong report-writing capability.
  • High-level written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven customer service experience.
  • Ability to perform under pressure.
  • Completion of St John WA Induction Training (provided on commencement).
