The Opportunity

St John WA is seeking applications from experienced Registered Nurses with a strong medical background in Emergency Department, Occupational Health Nursing or mine site/ remote location to join our casual pool of personnel for FIFO roles across WA.

About You

  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills, with the ability to make sound decisions in fast-paced environments.
  • Comfortable with night shifts
  • Conducting pre-employment medical assessments and drug and alcohol screenings, ensuring medical information is accurately documented and maintained.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with diverse individuals and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong understanding of occupational health and safety principles
  • Ability to work autonomously to align with site medical guidelines

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality nursing care, including assessments, treatment, and health education, to the workforce at Rio Tinto sites.
  • Conduct health screenings, provide emergency response and first aid services, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, participate in health promotion activities, and contribute to ongoing training and professional development initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Registered Nurse with current unrestricted AHPRA registration.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse, in emergency, remote or occupational health settings.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate
  • Driver’s Licence (C) – Manual
  • National Police clearance Certificate (issued within last three months)
  • Cannulation competent
  • Drug and Alcohol Tester Certificate (HLTPAT005)
  • Provide Advanced First Aid Certificate or ALS1 or ALS2 Certificate
  • Certificate III in Response and Rescue (desirable)
  • Rio Tinto Induction (under 1 year validity) – highly advantageous
