About the Role:
We are looking for a Manager Fleet, Radio & Equipment expert to join our State Control and Logistics department on a Full-Time basis 37.5 hours a week. Responsible for the safe, reliable and cost-effective lifecycle management of fleet, radio communications and operational equipment supporting St John WA's metropolitan, regional and remote services. The position ensures operational readiness through effective asset planning, maintenance, procurement, contract management and continuous improvement, while leading a multidisciplinary team responsible for critical operational assets.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead the safe, reliable and cost-effective delivery of fleet, radio communications and operational equipment services across metropolitan, regional and remote operations.
- Develop and deliver integrated lifecycle plans covering asset acquisition, commissioning, maintenance, replacement and disposal.
- Monitor asset utilisation, availability, downtime, maintenance compliance and service performance, and provide clear KPI, risk and performance reporting to senior leadership.
- Manage annual budgets of approximately $30M CAPEX and $20M OPEX, including forecasting, variance reporting, business cases and investment recommendations.
- Lead procurement, contract and supplier management activities to achieve compliant, value-for-money outcomes and resolve service, warranty and performance issues.
- Maintain strong safety, risk and governance controls, including asset inspections, defect and recall management, incident investigations and motor vehicle accident claims.
- Drive continuous improvement, standardisation and technology initiatives that strengthen operational readiness, asset performance, service reliability and long-term sustainability.
- Lead, coach and develop a multidisciplinary team while building collaborative stakeholder relationships and fostering a safe, inclusive, accountable and customer-focused culture.
What You’ll Need:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Asset Management, Engineering, Logistics, Business, Project Management, Supply Chain Management or a related discipline; or minimum 5 years' experience in fleet, asset, equipment, logistics, communications technology or similar operational management.
- Current C Class Driver's Licence.
- Qualification in automotive, mechanical, electrical, telecommunications or radio communications (desirable).
- Qualification in Asset Management, Project Management, Procurement or Contract Management (desirable).
- Experience within a safety-critical industry such as emergency services, healthcare, transport, utilities
or mining (desirable).
