About the Role:

We are looking for a Principal Server Engineer to join our Digital Services department on a permanent full-time basis.

As a Principal Server Engineer, you are responsible for assisting with bridging the gap between our business aspirations and technology implementations. This position demands a technical acumen, and hands-on involvement in delivering high-level technical systems. This position will be instrumental in ensuring the alignment of functional outcomes, driving the technical design, development, and implementation of solutions that deliver core infrastructure projects, with a focus on achieving optimal technical outcomes.

What You’ll Do:

• Collaborate with the architectural group to understand functional needs and demonstrate how different technological options impact strategic decisions.
• Assist with the design of technical systems incorporating software-defined solutions.
• Participate in hands-on delivery when necessary, ensuring robust, scalable, and efficient technology solutions.
• Continuously review and analyse the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and processes.
• Develop comprehensive technical solutions to meet business requirements, ensuring alignment with organisational strategies and standards.
• Shape the delivery of technical solutions, from concept to deployment, ensuring high-quality outcomes and on-time completion.
• Evaluate, recommend, and integrate technologies that support scalable, secure, and efficient systems.
• Collaborate with Technical Architects, System Owners, and Subject Matter Experts to document current system architecture and identify critical areas impacted by technical debt and knowledge gaps.
• Contribute to strategic evaluations and decision-making, incorporating process optimisations, functional upgrades, and system enhancements to address business challenges.

What You’ll Need:

• IT and related business/industry work experience including design and deployment and service management.
• B.S. in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related major or equivalent IS/business experience is preferable.
• TOGAF certification is essential to level 1, level 2 certification is preferable.
• Industry Specific certification (MCP, CISSP, ITIL).
• Strong experience delivering complex IT projects, translating technical challenges and solutions into clear advice for a range of stakeholders.
• Broad technical experience across enterprise platforms, including VMWare, Hypervisor, Cloud, Private Cloud, hyper-converged technologies, and software-defined solutions.
• Experience working within governance frameworks, developing automation, and guiding technical delivery to improve efficiency, reliability, and business outcomes.
