About the Role

Looking for a nursing role that's different from the ordinary? Join our WA Police Custodial Health team at the Perth Watch House and put your assessment, clinical decision-making and emergency nursing skills to work in one of Western Australia's most unique healthcare environments.

Working within the Perth Watch House in Northbridge, you'll care for detainees with diverse and often complex presentations, where strong assessment skills and sound clinical judgement are essential. Every shift presents new challenges, requiring you to think critically, make timely clinical decisions and determine the most appropriate course of care.

Working alongside WA Police officers and another Registered Nurse, you'll be part of a collaborative team delivering healthcare in a secure custodial environment. This fast-paced role offers genuine variety, a high level of autonomy and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact through confident clinical assessment and decision-making.

You'll work 12-hour shifts (0600–1800 and 1800–0600), with comprehensive clinical handovers and the support of another Registered Nurse on every shift, with additional nursing support available during peak periods.

About You

You are an experienced Registered Nurse who is confident working autonomously, remains calm under pressure and enjoys the challenge of making sound clinical decisions in a fast-paced environment. You have excellent assessment skills, communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and are committed to delivering high-quality patient care.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Current AHPRA registration with no restrictions.
  • Minimum 3 years' post-registration nursing experience.
  • Previous Emergency Department, Urgent Care, Acute Care or Custodial Nursing experience highly regarded.
  • Strong assessment, triage and clinical decision-making skills.
  • Experience managing mental health and alcohol and other drug presentations is highly desirable.
  • Venepuncture competency.
  • Current National Police Clearance (issued within the last three months) or willingness to obtain.
  • Current Provide First Aid and CPR certification (ALS highly regarded or willingness to obtain).
  • Current WA Working with Children Check.
  • Current unrestricted Driver's Licence.
  • Ability to successfully complete integrity and security clearances.

Desirable

  • Drug and Alcohol Testing competency.
  • Nurse Immuniser qualification.
